Ladies Who Lunch: Son Jung Wan Fall 2017

I have been a fan of Son Jung Wan since I covered her Fall 2011 New York Fashion Week debut.  Son Jung Wan perfectly marries fashion and art, while still making garments that are wearable.

For Fall 2017, Son Jung Wan took her inspiration from 1980’s fashion.  Staying true to the period, Son Jung Wan created a collection with bold silhouettes, vibrant colors and strong shoulders.

Son Jung Wan’s references to the 1980’s are clearly evident, but she manages to take those references and incorporate them into the collection in a way that creates a modern look.

Son Jung Wan Fall 2017 once again delivers with a collection that is beautiful, innovative and truly a work of art.

Ladies Who Lunch: Malan Breton Spring/Summer 2017!

Designer Malan Breton has a global style that marries luxe western design with an eastern flavor.  Malan Breton draws on his native Taiwanese heritage for themes, fabrics and colors.

For his Spring 2017 Collection, Malan Breton took his inspiration from San Xian Tai, a coastal area of Taiwan.  This inspiration influenced the colors of the collection as well as leant an exoticism to Malan’s always dramatic collections.

Malan Breton definitely knows how to put on a show and he opened this one with a dance performance by the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company, setting the mood for the show to come.  The show also had celebrities modeling his clothes, including Titus Burgess and NeNe Leakes!

Malan Breton Spring 2017 is an impeccable collection of men’s and women’s wear that is luxurious, dramatic and above all stylish!

Ladies Who Lunch: Calvin Luo Spring/Summer 2017!

Chinese designer Calvin Luo moved to New York at the age of 16 to attend Parsons School of Design and pursue his passion to be a fashion designer. With only 2 years of school under his belt, this talented designer has launched his first collection while still attending Parsons!

For Spring 2017, Calvin Luo presented a collection that is a combination of mens and womenswear.  Calvin Luo has also incorporated a lot of unisex garments into his collection, with items easily being worn by men or women.

Calvin Luo also holds the distinction of being the youngest designer to present his collection on the official New York Fashion Week Calendar.  Calvin Luo’s Spring 2017 Collection is a strong collection that proves that he is a designer to keep an eye on!

Ladies Who Lunch: DENIBI Spring/Summer 2017!

Based in Barcelona, the DENIBI fashion house takes a lot of its inspiration from the very city in which it was created.  DENIBI not only produces a beautiful ready-to-wear line, but it also specializes in high-quality leather goods and home decor.

DENIBI mixes its Barcelona Heritage with African inspiration, drawing heavily on the unique architecture of Barcelona for its shapes and construction.  The DENIBI collections are a wonderful blend of sophistication and minimalism.

Being a bit shy and also wanting the focus to stay on the collection, DENIBI creative director Fadel Denibi requested to do our interview off camera.  We honored his request, but I have to note that with such a strong and focused collection, nothing could take the focus away from the beautiful designs.

Ladies Who Lunch: Ricardo Seco Spring 2017!

Mexican designer Ricardo Seco showed his Spring 2017 Menswear Collection at the Hotel Americano in Chelsea next to the roof top pool.  It was the perfect setting for Ricardo Seco’s cool mix of athletic wear, oversized and relaxed garments, and bomber jackets.

But this season, Ricardo Seco wanted his collection to also have a theme of social responsibility.  Ricardo Seco named this collection LIFE and took his inspiration from Holbox, an island that lies northeast of the Yucatan peninsula. The island is the home of a lot of endangered species including the American Flamingo and the Carey Turtle.

Ricardo Seco created this collection to bring attention to the environmental issues that threaten our planet and its rare species.  The inspiration led to a collection infused with bright bold colors, such as a flamingo pink, mixed with black and earthier sand.

Ricardo Seco Spring 2017 gives us once again a solid collection of menswear that will be perfect for this coming summer and at the same time make us think about Global Warming and its effect on all of us.

Ladies Who Lunch: Erin Fetherston Spring 2017!

Marking the tenth anniversary of Erin Fetherston’s debut at New York Fashion Week, the Spring 2017 Collection shows her trademark feminine style.  But this season also shows a little more of a relaxed attitude that is the result of this being her first collection since becoming a mother.

Erin Fetherston Spring 2017 gives us what she describes as a “refined take on bohemian dressing”.  Erin Fetherston also started a collaboration with a denim company, introducing a new fabric element which she pairs brilliantly with the softer fabrics in the collection.

Erin Fetherston Spring 2017 is the perfect collection to show how her style has evolved over the past 10 years and shows us how it continues to evolve and and grow into the future.

Ladies Who Lunch: Son Jung Wan Spring 2017!

It is no wonder that Son Jung Wan is one of the biggest designers in Korea.  Son Jung Wan always utilizes creative drapes and construction to create interesting and flattering silhouettes combined with innovative fabrics.

Son Jung Wan also shows her artistry in her collections, taking her inspirations from the art world, nature and even historical fashion periods.  For her Spring 2017 Collection, Son Jung Wan takes us back to the 70’s with a fun take on the disco era.

Bright colors, bold patterns, and stripes bring this collection to life.  Son Jung Wan’s vision of the 70’s combines glamour with a playfulness that makes this collection irresistible!

Son Jung Wan closed the show with 70’s Supermodel Pat Cleveland who danced down the runway and reminded us all what a true Supermodel is at any age!  And Son Jung Wan showed us once again that she is a true master of her craft!
